Tension Erupts in Morikolong After Woman Dies from Injuries in Dacoit AttackTension Erupts in Morikolong as Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Dacoit Attack

Nagaon: Tension gripped Morikolong in Nagaon town after the body of Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia, the wife of a doctor who succumbed to injuries sustained in a dacoit attack after several days of treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati, was brought to her residence at Seuj Nagar in Morikolong. Local women blocked the road demanding justice for the murder of Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia (Morikolong Dacoit Attack).

On the night of April 23, a group of dacoits entered the residence of Dr. Ranjit Saikia at Seuj Nagar in Morikolong and attacked both the doctor and his wife. Severely injured in the attack, Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati for several days before she passed away today.

After her body reached the residence this evening, local women expressed anger against the police. Speaking to the media, they alleged that despite rampant drug trafficking and gambling activities in the area, the police had remained inactive. As a result, local residents, especially women, have been living under constant insecurity. They further alleged that due to the weak role of the police, such a horrific dacoity incident could take place near the Morikolong Police Outpost.

Local residents raised slogans such as “We want justice for Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia” and “We want justice,” turning the situation highly charged.

Meanwhile, the husband of the deceased, Dr. Ranjit Saikia, became emotional while demanding justice for his wife’s murder. Breaking down in tears, he questioned who would now take care of their little child. He said that such an incident had taken place during the tenure of the government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and asserted that justice must be delivered. He demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the killing and said that his stand remains firm.
