Jorhat: Today, an important review meeting was held at the conference hall of the Jorhat Circuit House under the chairmanship of the Minister for Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Housing & Urban Affairs, and Cooperation Departments, Government of Assam, Kaushik Rai. In the meeting, the progress of various development works ongoing in the district under the three departments was discussed in detail with the senior officials of the Housing & Urban Affairs Department, Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department, and Cooperation Department.
During the discussion, the overall development of municipal areas, the pace of urban infrastructure projects, and the status of sanitation systems under the Housing & Urban Affairs Department were reviewed. Similarly, the 'Anna Sewa Din' program of the Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department and preparations for distributing subsidized pulses and sugar to beneficiaries from August 10 were discussed in detail. The Minister gave special instructions to the departmental officials to ensure that adequate essential commodities are supplied according to the needs of the people, especially in the flood-affected areas of Jorhat district. In addition, the operational capacity of godowns of cooperative societies in the district under the cooperation sector, as well as the storage and distribution system of food grains, were also assessed in the meeting.
The review meeting was attended by MLA of Jorhat Hitendra Nath Goswami, District Commissioner of Jorhat District Jay Shivani, President of Jorhat Zilla Parishad Surajit Saikia, Secretary of District Food and Public Distribution Department Mrs. Anusuya Saikia, Managing Director of AFCSCL Mrs. Parijat Bhuyan, Managing Director of Swachh Bharat Mission Shri Sabyasachi Kashyap, Director of Municipal Administration Shri Tankeswar Das, Additional District Commissioner of Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department Mrs. Dyotiva Bora and Joint Director Bikash Das, Chairpersons and Executive Officers of various Municipal Boards, along with other high-ranking officials of the concerned departments.
It is worth noting that besides the review meeting, the Minister directly visited and took stock of the situation at the Dhekorgorah Paddy Procurement Centre, Sarucharai Gaon Panchayat Samabay Samiti (GPSS), a Ration Shop, and various projects under the Municipal Board, including Nehru Park and Gandhi Park, etc. Senior officials from the respective departments were also present with the Minister during these inspections.
