Jorhat: Yesterday, a crucial review meeting was held at the Circuit House conference hall in Jorhat district under the chairmanship of the Honorable Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Hill Areas Development, and Barak Valley Development, Shri Krishnendu Paul, to assess the post-flood situation in Jorhat district.
Detailed discussions were held in the meeting regarding the supply of safe drinking water and the restoration of sanitation facilities in flood-affected areas, accurate assessment of damages, and accelerating the relief and rehabilitation process. The Minister placed special emphasis on providing timely relief to every affected family and expediting emergency services.
The meeting was attended by the Honorable MLA of Jorhat constituency Shri Hitendra Nath Goswami, Honorable MLA of Mariani constituency Shri Rupjyoti Kurmi, Honorable MLA of Titabar constituency Shri Dhiraj Gowala, Honorable MLA of Teok constituency Shri Bikash Saikia, Chief Executive Officer of Jorhat Zilla Parishad Shri Manoj Kumar Baruah, President of Zilla Parishad Shri Surajit Saikia, Chief Engineer of PHE Department Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma (Sanitation), Chief Engineer of PHE Department Shri Pallab Kumar Das (Water), Block Development Officers, District Executive Engineers, heads of various departments, and other engineers of the PHE Department.
After the meeting concluded, the Honorable Minister, along with a delegation, visited the flood-affected Namdeuri and Sonari Gaon areas of Jorhat. During this visit, MLA of Teok constituency Shri Bikash Saikia, Chief Engineer of PHE Department Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma,(Sanitation),District Executive Engineer of PHE Department Shri Ajay Lahan, along with other officers and staff of the PHE and Water Resources Departments, accompanied the Minister. During the inspection, the Minister also distributed relief materials among the flood-affected families.
