Nagaon: Ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled across the state tomorrow, polling and presiding officer teams for all 1868 polling stations under the seven Assembly constituencies of Nagaon district reached their respective centres smoothly during the day today. Adequate CCTV camera arrangements have been made at all polling stations. From 6 a.m. this morning, officials and staff reported at their designated centres to collect voting machines, VVPATs, and other necessary materials (Nagaon Polling Stations).

For the 55 No. Dhing, 56 No. Rupahihat, and 58 No. Samaguri Assembly constituencies, Dawson Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School was designated as the distribution centre; for the 57 No. Kaliabor and 59 No. Barhampur Assembly constituencies, Government Higher Secondary Boys’ School was designated; and for the 60 No. Nagaon–Batadrava and 61 No. Raha (SC) Assembly constituencies, Government Higher Secondary Girls’ School served as the centre.

After collecting materials from these centres, polling teams departed in designated vehicles stationed at Nehrubali and Garu field, reaching their respective polling stations by the afternoon.

District Commissioner Devashish Sharma personally supervised the entire process and, before departure from Nehrubali, encouraged the officials by felicitating them with phulam gamosas. To create a festive atmosphere around the election process, a Bihu dance performance was also arranged at the venue. Many polling officials and staff were seen enthusiastically participating in the Bihu dance.

The District Commissioner also visited the dining halls and interacted with those having meals to take stock of the situation. District Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Sharma informed that for each polling station, one presiding officer, three polling officers, and one security personnel departed together. The district also has 200 polling stations managed entirely by women. So far, the entire process has been completed smoothly. A festive atmosphere is already prevailing in Nagaon town ahead of tomorrow’s polling.
