Nagaon: At a time when the sensational Morikolong robbery case in Nagaon district continues to create widespread concern, one of the accused was injured in a road accident. Rajibur Rahman, one of the prime accused in the shocking robbery case, sustained injuries in a serious accident (Morikolong Robbery Case). The police vehicle carrying Rajibur for investigation reportedly met with an accident at Barghat in Nagaon during the last night. Rajibur Rahman, who was seriously injured in the accident, was admitted to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital for treatment the same night.
In this robbery case, Dr. Ranjit Saikia’s wife, Ruprekha Saikia (Ruprekha Bhuyan Saikia), had lost her life. Ruprekha, who was critically injured in the attack by the dacoits, succumbed to her injuries after nearly 16 days while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati. The incident had created massive outrage across Assam.
Background of the Incident:
On the night of April 24, at around 3 a.m., a gang of dacoits entered the residence of Dr. Ranjit Saikia at Morikolong and attacked the doctor couple using iron rods and sharp weapons. The gang brutally assaulted Ruprekha on the head. The dacoits looted cash, gold ornaments, and other valuable items before fleeing the scene. Following Ruprekha’s death, Nagaon Police had informed that murder charges were added to the robbery case.
Nagaon Police launched an investigation and arrested several accused persons. Along with Rajibur Rahman, the police managed to arrest Lamba Ali alias Rezzak Ali and Nur Hussain Ali from Lakhimpur. Earlier, Nagaon Police had also arrested Umar Ali (the alleged mastermind), Mintu Hussain, and Nazirul Islam.
Details of the Accident:
While police were taking accused Rajibur Rahman for investigation related to the robbery case, the police vehicle met with an accident at Barghat in Nagaon during the night. Rajibur Rahman was injured in the accident. It has been learned that he was taken for medical treatment in an injured condition. Nagaon Police confirmed that the accused in the robbery case had sustained injuries in the road accident.
Reacting to the incident, Dr. Ranjit Saikia stated that the accident involving accused Rajibur Rahman had given them “some justice.” According to him, the incident has provided at least a little solace to the bereaved family through divine justice.
The sensational robbery case and the subsequent accident have created serious concern among local residents. Meanwhile, Nagaon Police continue their investigation into both the robbery case and the accident.
