Nagaon: Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma visited the erosion-affected areas along the Brahmaputra River at Hatimura in Nagaon district (Hatimura Erosion).
During the visit, the District Commissioner reviewed the progress of the anti-erosion measures being undertaken by the Water Resources Department. He held detailed discussions with officials of the Nagaon Water Resources Division regarding the challenges being faced in controlling riverbank erosion and the possible solutions to address them. He also took stock of the safety and protection of local settlements, agricultural land, and public infrastructure that continue to be threatened by the ongoing erosion.
Sharma emphasized the need for timely and effective mitigation measures to ensure the safety of affected residents and prevent further loss of land. He instructed the concerned officials to maintain continuous monitoring of erosion-prone locations and to complete the necessary protective works at the earliest.
The District Commissioner made clear that the district administration is always fully committed to addressing erosion-related issues and ensuring the safety and welfare of residents living in the affected areas.
Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Raj Barua and Assistant Commissioner Nilotpal Chetia also accompanied him during the visit.
