Safiqur Rahman,Nagaon: Assam’s kickboxing contingent delivered an impressive performance at the National Kickboxing Championship, held from January 24 to 25, 2026, at the V.K. Krishna Menon Indoor Stadium, Calicut, Kerala (Assam Kickboxers National Championship). The prestigious championship was organised by the International Combat Federation and sanctioned by the World Kickboxing Federation (WKF).
A total of six kickboxers from Assam represented the state on the national stage and returned with a remarkable medal haul of six medals, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze, showcasing the growing strength and talent of kickboxing in the region (Assam Kickboxing Team).
Leading the medal tally were Tonmoy Hazarika, who clinched gold in the Senior K1 category, and Angshu P. Saikia, who secured gold in the Youth Kick Light division with an outstanding display of technique and determination.
Adding to Assam’s success, Nishant K. Mosrong earned a silver medal in the Senior K1 category, while Izaz Hussain claimed silver in the Senior KickLight event, both putting up commendable performances against tough national-level competition (National Kickboxing Championship 2026).
The bronze medals came through Nabajit Ray, who finished third in the Youth K1 category, and Nihal Hazarika, who secured bronze in the Sub-Junior KickLight division, underlining the depth of emerging talent in Assam’s kickboxing circuit.
The Assam team was led by State Secretary Jyotirmoy Boro, whose guidance and leadership played a crucial role in the team’s disciplined preparation and confident performance throughout the championship.
The impressive medal haul has brought pride to Assam and highlighted the state’s steady rise in national kickboxing. Coaches, officials, and supporters have lauded the athletes for their dedication, resilience, and fighting spirit, expressing confidence that such performances will inspire more young athletes from the state to take up the sport.
