Nagaon: The Nagaon district administration has adopted a strict stance on traffic laws with the objective of preventing road accidents. Violators of motor vehicle regulations in Nagaon are likely to face serious consequences (Nagaon Road Safety Drive).

After as many as 35 road accidents were reported in the district over the past month, the Nagaon district administration has intensified its efforts to curb such incidents. A total of 22 people lost their lives in these 35 accidents, prompting the administration to take stronger measures to improve road safety.

To address the issue, Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma held an important meeting with the Nagaon District Road Safety Committee. During discussions with the District Transport Department and Nagaon Police, the District Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary steps to prevent road accidents.

He also instructed officials to strictly enforce motor vehicle laws. Following the District Commissioner’s directive, the traffic branch of Nagaon Police has become more active in conducting enforcement drives against traffic rule violators.

The administration has particularly focused on action against motorcycle riders not wearing helmets and has also adopted a strict approach towards illegal parking. Residents are being advised to be cautious while parking vehicles anywhere in Nagaon district, failing which they may face penalties.

The district administration has already imposed restrictions on double parking within Nagaon town and on the parking of trucks along national highways passing through the district. Anyone violating these restrictions may be fined between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000.

District Commissioner Devashish Sharma has warned that no individual will be exempted from these penalties. He has also appealed to the people of Nagaon to cooperate with the administration in its efforts to improve road safety.

It is noteworthy that the strict measures adopted by the Nagaon district administration to enforce traffic laws and prevent road accidents have been widely appreciated by conscious and responsible citizens of the district.
