Nagaon: In the 2026 Assam Assembly Election, Nagaon district achieved a historic milestone. For many years, the district had often made headlines due to election violence, allegations of rigging, and unrest (Nagaon Peaceful Election 2026). However, this time, the entire election process was completed in a completely peaceful atmosphere. The people of Nagaon set a new example of peace by breaking all previous records of disturbances .
Under the leadership of Nagaon District Commissioner and District Election Officer Devashish Sharma (IAS) and Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das (IPS), the district administration and police worked tirelessly day and night and implemented several timely measures, making this success possible. Notably, the active cooperation of the public further strengthened these efforts.
Preparation and Vigilance:
Long before the elections, the district administration had undertaken special planning to ensure peaceful polling. District Commissioner Devashish Sharma repeatedly conducted review meetings regarding election preparedness, identified sensitive areas, and coordinated closely with the police. Security arrangements were strengthened through discussions with police observers and officials at various levels.
Particularly in areas known to be sensitive, the District Commissioner, along with the Superintendent of Police, carried out awareness drives among the public and conducted area domination exercises.
Under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, the police conducted area domination, road marches, and regular patrolling to control suspicious activities. The District Commissioner himself was present during many of these operations. Strict security arrangements were implemented at polling stations on election day, due to which no major unrest or violent incidents occurred.
Role of the Public and Expression of Gratitude:
District Commissioner Devashish Sharma described public cooperation as extremely important. He stated, “It is because of the awareness and cooperation of the people that peaceful elections were possible in Nagaon this time.” By participating in the voting process while supporting peace, the people of the district made the festival of democracy meaningful.
Various sections of society have praised the joint efforts of the district administration, police, and the public for this success. The election process in Nagaon district proved that with proper leadership, planning, and public cooperation, any challenge can be overcome.
