Nagaon: In a vibrant and well-coordinated prelude to the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, all polling personnel in Nagaon district successfully reached their designated polling stations on Wednesday, creating an atmosphere of fastive and readiness across the region (Nagaon Poll Day 2026).
A total of 1,868 polling stations across seven Legislative constituencies were mobilized efficiently during the day. Polling and presiding officers, along with essential election materials including EVMs and VVPATs, reported to their respective dispatch centers as early as 6:00 AM.
Designated collection centers were set up at key institutions:
Dhing (55), Rupahihat (56), and Samaguri (58) constituencies at Dakhin Nagaon Higher Secondary & Multipurpose School.
Kaliabor (57) and Barhampur (59) at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School
Nagaon-Batadrava (60) and Raha (SC) (61) at Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School.
From these centers, polling teams proceeded smoothly to their respective stations via arranged transport from Nehrubali and Garu Field, ensuring timely deployment.
District Commissioner Devashish Sharma personally supervised the entire operation and extended a warm send-off to polling officials at Nehrubali by presenting them with traditional gamosas as a mark of respect and encouragement.
Adding a unique cultural touch, a Bihu dance performance was organized at the venue, setting a festive tone ahead of the crucial polling day. Polling personnel were seen joining the celebrations, reflecting high morale and enthusiasm.
The District Commissioner also visited dining areas, interacting with officials and reviewing arrangements to ensure their comfort and well-being.
District Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Sharma informed that each polling station is staffed with one presiding officer, three polling officers, and one security personnel. Notably, 200 polling stations in the district are exclusively managed by women, showcasing a strong commitment to inclusivity.
With all preparations completed smoothly, Nagaon is now fully set for polling day, with a spirited and celebratory atmosphere already taking over the town.
