Nagaon: A day after the nomination filing process concluded, scrutiny of nomination papers was completed in Nagaon. Candidates from seven Assembly constituencies in the district had submitted their nominations. Following verification, the list of valid nominations has now been finalized (Assam Election 2026 Nagaon Candidates List).
With the announcement of the Assembly election schedule by the Election Commission of India, various preparatory steps for the polls have already gathered pace in the Nagaon election district.
The process of filing nomination papers for seven constituencies of the district—55 Dhing, 56 Rupahihat, 57 Kaliabor, 58 Samaguri, 59 Barhampur, 60 Nagaon–Batadrava, and 61 Raha (SC)—ended yesterday.
Following the submission process, scrutiny of nomination papers was carried out today in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The verification exercise was conducted in the presence of General Observer Abu Tayeng, a Secretary from Arunachal Pradesh deputed by the Election Commission of India as General Observer, and District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Devashish Sharma.
Altogether, nomination papers of 38 candidates were examined during the scrutiny process.
