New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has extended an invitation to India to become part of the proposed Gaza Board of Peace, according to sources familiar with the development.
The outreach to India comes as the US administration moves ahead with formalising the structure of the Board of Peace, a key component of President Trump’s broader roadmap aimed at resolving the ongoing Gaza conflict. On Friday, the White House officially announced the list of individuals appointed to the Board, which will supervise Phase Two of Trump’s ambitious 20-Point Peace Plan for Gaza.
According to a White House statement, the Board of Peace includes several prominent global figures. Among those named are US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Also included in the Board are Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, and Robert Gabriel, the US Deputy National Security Adviser.
Outlining the scope of the Board’s mandate, the White House said that Executive Board members will be responsible for overseeing key portfolios critical to Gaza’s stabilisation and long-term recovery. These areas include governance capacity-building, regional diplomatic engagement, reconstruction planning, attracting foreign investment, securing large-scale funding, and mobilising capital.
With President Trump serving as Chairman of the Board of Peace, he has appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum as senior advisers. Their role will involve managing day-to-day strategy and operations, while ensuring that the Board’s diplomatic priorities are translated into effective and disciplined execution on the ground.
As part of the administrative framework under the plan, Nickolay Mladenov, an Executive Board member, has been designated as the High Representative for Gaza. He will act as the primary link between the Board of Peace and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), serving as the on-ground coordinator for the initiative.
Describing the NCAG as a central pillar of Phase Two, the White House said the body represents a critical step in implementing Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict — a 20-point roadmap focused on long-term peace, stability, reconstruction, and economic prosperity in the region.
According to the statement, the NCAG will be led by Ali Sha’ath, described as a widely respected technocratic leader. Sha’ath will be responsible for restoring essential public services, rebuilding civil institutions, stabilising daily life in Gaza, and laying the groundwork for a self-sustaining governance structure.
Beyond governance and reconstruction, the White House also detailed security arrangements under the plan. To ensure stability, preserve peace, and establish a durable terror-free environment, Major General Jasper Jeffers has been appointed Commander of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF). He will oversee security operations, support comprehensive demilitarisation, and facilitate the safe delivery of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction materials.
The announcement further named members of the Gaza Executive Board. Alongside Blair, Kushner, and Witkoff, the list includes Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari diplomat Ali Al Thawadi, and other international representatives involved in the peace initiative.
