Pijush Hazarika Reacts to Congress–Raijor Dal Alliance Collapse in AssamMinister Pijush Hazarika Reacts to the Breakdown of Congress–Raijor Dal Alliance

Nagaon: Minister Pijush Hazarika has reacted to the collapse of the alliance between the Congress and Raijor Dal (Pijush Hazarika Reaction). He alleged that leaders within the Congress alliance disrespected one another in the name of partnership and also remarked that “Miya means a wise person.”

Following a Facebook post by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, it became evident that the alliance between Congress and Raijor Dal had formally broken down. When journalists in Nagaon sought his reaction today, Minister Hazarika said, “Congress held meetings at Lily Hotel and also at a line hotel in the Bihali constituency, but the result was zero. They cannot respect one another. In the Congress alliance, leaders have insulted each other in the name of partnership. Such things do not happen in our party. Our alliance partners do not ignore the concerns of the people of Assam. All members of the BJP-led alliance are united. They discuss one thing internally but make different comments outside.”

When asked about allegations that Gaurav Gogoi and Rakibul Hussain were involved in financial dealings in the process of distributing Congress tickets, Hazarika said, “Akhil Gogoi knows more about this than I do. I had earlier said that Congress would sell tickets in 23 constituencies. I was once in the Congress party myself, so I still get internal information. Therefore, Akhil Gogoi’s allegation will prove to be true.”

Hazarika also commented that Congress should be kept away from Assam politics for a long time; otherwise, people suspected to be of Bangladeshi origin would gain influence in the state.

Responding to allegations made by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren that the BJP government in Assam had done nothing for the tea tribe community, Hazarika said, “Our government passed a law in the Assembly and gave land to the tea tribe community—something no one had done in 200 years. The Prime Minister will personally distribute land to 5,000 families the day after tomorrow. People from the tea tribe community have been given three percent reservation in various jobs. Roads have been constructed in the garden lines. Tea workers’ wages have increased compared to the Congress era. During the Congress government, wages were ₹138. Under the BJP government, wages increased by ₹113, and another ₹30 will be increased. Hemant Soren does not know these facts. The tea tribe community of Assam will bless Himanta Biswa Sarma and the NDA.”

“Miya Means a Wise Person”: Pijush Hazarika

On the use of the word “Miya,” Minister Pijush Hazarika said, “Many Muslim leaders themselves refer to themselves as ‘Miya.’ Some people feel offended when the term is used. There are certain leaders in Nagaon who feel offended when called ‘Miya.’ Those who are genuine Miya do not feel offended by the term. Only the duplicates feel offended. ‘Miya’ means a wise person. That is what we say. We have nothing to hide.”
