What are these AI-Powered Smart Glasses?

Sources within the Delhi Police state that these smart glasses are equipped with Facial Recognition Systems (FRS) and Thermal Imaging Technology. This modern tech allows security forces to easily identify criminals or suspects even within dense crowds. The glasses are directly linked to the police criminal database; if a person’s face matches a record in the system, an instant alert is sent to the officer.

Speaking to the news agency PTI, Delhi Police ACP Devesh Kumar Mahla shared:

”These smart glasses are Made in India. They are connected to the police officers’ mobile phones. If a person has no prior criminal record, the device shows a green signal. However, if there is a criminal history, a red signal appears.”

In a separate interview, Mahla explained that even if a criminal is in disguise, this sophisticated technology can identify them. The system’s algorithms are trained to recognize individuals despite changes in appearance—whether it’s a 20-year-old photo versus a current one, or if the person has grown a beard or long hair.
500 AI Cameras Installed

In addition to the eyewear, 500 AI-enabled cameras have been installed across Delhi for Republic Day. These cameras are integrated with police patrolling vehicles and also feature facial recognition capabilities.

Security Posts in 4,000 Buildings

Delhi Police sources further revealed that security posts have been established in approximately 4,000 buildings. Security personnel will maintain a vigilant watch from rooftops, where police and sniper teams will be stationed. Furthermore, high-traffic areas such as bus stands, railway stations, and local markets are under strict surveillance to ensure public safety.
