Nagaon: To encourage every voter in Nagaon district to exercise their franchise responsibly in the upcoming Legislative Assembly election, a bicycle rally was organized today from the District Commissioner’s office as part of a voter awareness initiative. The rally was led by renowned para-Olympian cyclist Rakesh Banik and was formally flagged off by District Commissioner Devashish Sharma, who also joined the procession (Nagaon Voter Awareness Bicycle Rally).

In his address on the occasion, he said that the true strength of democracy is reflected through the proper exercise of voting rights. He urged everyone to cast off laziness and cast their votes without fear or inducement, thereby upholding the great democratic tradition of the country.

The event was attended by District Development Commissioner Devyani Choudhury, Nagaon Circle Officer Bandeep Rabha, Election Officer Shekharan Phukan, District Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Sharma, members of the Voter Education and Awareness Cell, and over a hundred student cyclists.

The rally passed through the entire town. Earlier, the District Commissioner also formally unveiled a symbolic mascot named Nitikon, inspired by the one-horned rhinoceros of Kaziranga, prepared by the district administration for the election. A selfie point was also inaugurated within the premises of the District Commissioner’s office for the same purpose.
