Nes Desk: Diwakar Reddy from KGF, Bengaluru, Karnataka, is on an extensive road safety awareness ride across the country on a Dio scooter, a journey he began on November 1, 2023 (India Road Safety Journey).
Travelling solo, Reddy has undertaken what he describes as an All India trip, aiming to cover 28 states and 8 Union Territories, spanning 806 districts and more than 2 lakh kilometres. The ride is being carried out as part of a road safety awareness campaign.
So far, he has completed 1,10,000 kilometres over 834 days — a period he mentions as two years — and has visited 22 states and 5 Union Territories.
The states covered include Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. He has also travelled through Arunachal Pradesh (50 per cent), Manipur (70 per cent) and Nagaland (70 per cent), along with Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya.
Among the Union Territories completed are Diu & Daman, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Leh Ladakh.
During his visit to Assam, Reddy met the Nagaon District Commissioner Devasish Sharma on Tuesday. The District Commissioner praised his effort and encouraged him to continue his journey and road safety awareness campaign.
Reddy has described the expedition as an attempt at the “World’s Longest Journey in One Country” and stated that he is attending the Guinness Book of World Record in connection with the ride.
The solo journey continues as he proceeds toward covering the remaining states, Union Territories and districts under his nationwide plan.
