Nagaon: Special Election Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for the state, retired IAS officer Manjit Singh, visited the Nagaon District today and conducted a comprehensive review of the overall election preparedness (Special Election Observer Nagaon Visit). Upon his arrival in the district, the Special Observer held an important meeting in the office chamber of the District Commissioner. District Election Officer cum District Commissioner Devasish Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das and Election Officer Shekhar Phukan were present in the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the election preparedness and planning in the district.The observer thoroughly reviewed key aspects such as the deployment status of officials and staff required for election management, transportation arrangements, and the current status of other preliminary preparations.
Following the meeting, Singh visited the election materials distribution centre cum strong room set up at the Nagaon Govt. Boys’ Higher Secondary School. During the inspection, he examined the security arrangements of the strong room, the functioning of various distribution cells, and all technical aspects related to the smooth conduct of the election process. He also visited polling station at Kiranbala Goswami Girls’ High School and took stock of the facilities for voters in the centre. He emphasized the strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
