Nagaon: In view of the concerns regarding a possible shortage of cooking gas cylinders arising from the war situation in West Asia, Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma has appealed to the public not to become unnecessarily anxious (Nagaon LPG Cylinder Shortage).

In a video message issued on Wednesday, he said that so far there has been no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in Nagaon district. However, he acknowledged that the supply of commercial cylinders has not been fully adequate compared to demand. While expressing regret over this situation, he added that there is no need for excessive concern.

He also appealed to the general public as well as owners of hotels and restaurants not to stockpile cylinders in anticipation of a future shortage. He warned that if such practices occur, the district administration will be compelled to take action.

The District Commissioner stated that the government and administration are making every effort to ensure that hotel and restaurant owners do not face major difficulties during this period.

He further urged the public not to panic and hoard extra cylinders, noting that such actions could create an artificial shortage, which may deprive those who genuinely need them. Reiterating that there is currently no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, he said that anyone facing any problem in this regard may approach the district administration for assistance.

Commercial Use of Domestic Cylinders Prohibited in Nagaon

In a separate directive, District Commissioner Devashish Sharma has banned the commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders throughout Nagaon district.

According to the order, hotels, restaurants, dhabas, roadside food vendors and other food-related businesses are strictly prohibited from using domestic cylinders. They must use only commercial cylinders obtained from authorized distributors.

If anyone violates this rule, the cylinders will be seized and strict legal action will be taken against the offenders.

Gas distributors have also been warned not to supply domestic cylinders to commercial establishments. If any such irregularity is detected, they must immediately inform the authorities.

All concerned departments have been directed to implement these instructions with immediate effect.
