Nagaon: With the objective of removing fear and apprehension from the minds of the public and ensuring that the election process is conducted smoothly and peacefully, Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma once again visited several sensitive areas of the district today (Nagaon Election 2026). In particular, he toured a wide stretch of areas under the Samaguri Legislative Assembly constituency, including Borma Bazaar, Kawaimari Bazaar, Magurmari Bazaar Tini-Ali, and Sholmari, and interacted with local residents in marketplaces and public areas.
During the visit, the District Commissioner appealed to people from all sections of society to extend full cooperation to the administration for the peaceful conduct of the upcoming Assembly elections. He also urged everyone not to fall prey to the provocations of miscreants and not to allow such elements any opportunity to disrupt the process.
He further encouraged the public to vote fearlessly for candidates of their choice based on their own judgment and conscience, without yielding to fear, intimidation, or pressure from any group. Sharma emphasized that active participation of citizens alone can further strengthen the foundations of democracy.
It is noteworthy that, in order to maintain peace and harmony in the district, District Commissioner Sharma has already been visiting several areas such as Barhampur and Rupahi and interacting directly with local residents on the ground. Yesterday, he also conducted an area march in the Barhampur region along with the Senior Superintendent of Police and police personnel. The objective of this “area domination” exercise was to strengthen the law-and-order situation in the district and instill a sense of security among the public. As part of the operation, patrols were carried out in sensitive locations such as Kondoli Bazaar in tea garden areas and Bamuni locality under the Barhampur Legislative Assembly constituency, while reviewing the overall security arrangements.
The officials also interacted with local residents and assessed the existing security measures in the area.
