Nagaon: The Assam Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held on April 9. Like other parts of the state, extensive preparations for the election are underway in Nagaon district as well. In particular, the district administration has been taking several measures to ensure a peaceful and fair election, including creating public awareness against election-related violence and carrying out area domination exercises with police and paramilitary forces under the supervision of District Commissioner Devashish Sharma (Election Observer Abu Tayeng).

Amid these ongoing efforts by the district administration to ensure smooth conduct of the election, the Election Observer visited several polling stations in the district on Tuesday.

Abu Tayeng, a senior IAS officer appointed by the Election Commission as the General Observer for the 56 No. Rupahihat Legislative Assembly constituency of Nagaon district, inspected a number of polling stations located in sensitive and remote areas of the constituency on Tuesday and reviewed their preparedness. He visited polling stations in areas such as Baralimari, Kachari, and Sutirpar, and assessed the availability of minimum required facilities and security arrangements there. In this regard, he also interacted with the officials and staff responsible for managing the polling stations.
