Nagaon: A workshop on the preparation of eco-friendly Holi colours was organized on 27 February 2026 at Nowgong Girls’ College, Nagaon, under the Environment Education Programme initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The programme was implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) (Eco-Friendly Holi Colours).
The workshop aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the use of organic and chemical-free colours during Holi.
The session was conducted under the guidance of Kulen Chandra Das, Principal of Nowgong Girls’ College.
The resource person for the hands-on workshop was Kuldeep Das, along with his companion Dipanwita Kalita, who guided the students through the process of preparing natural colours using locally available organic materials.
Students actively participated and gained practical knowledge about eco-friendly practices. At the end of the workshop, certificates were distributed to all participating students. More than 55 teachers and students participated in the hands-on workshop.
The final products of the workshop were launched as “হেঙুল প্ৰাকৃতিক আবিৰ” (an eco-friendly Holi colour) on the college premises on the occasion of Holi. It was widely accepted and purchased by the faculty and students of the college.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Zina Moni Shandilya, Eco Club Coordinator, Nowgong Girls’ College.
