Nagaon : In a touching gesture of remembrance and respect, the Nagaon Print Media Association organized a memorial painting competition in honour of late journalists Bichitra Narayan Bora and Ratul Bora. The programme was held at the Kamala Devi Todi Smriti Bhawan (Art Competition by Nagaon Print Media Association).
The association, a common platform of print media journalists based in Nagaon, hosted the event with the dual objective of paying tribute to the departed media personalities and fostering creative talent among students. More than fifty students from various educational institutions across the district enthusiastically participated in the competition, which was conducted in two categories.
MLA of Nagaon–Batadrava constituency, Rupak Sharma, graced the occasion and encouraged the young participants. In his brief address, he lauded the efforts of the Nagaon Print Media Association, describing its activities as “highly commendable.” He noted that the association has been consistently organizing meaningful programmes in memory of late journalists and that the memorial painting competition dedicated to Bichitra Narayan Bora and Ratul Bora was a befitting tribute.
He further stated that such initiatives not only honour the legacy of media stalwarts but also serve as inspiring platforms to nurture creativity among students. Sharma expressed hope that the competition would greatly motivate children and urged the association’s office bearers to undertake more innovative and socially relevant programmes in the future.
Following the competition, judges Aravinda Das and Mohar Ali announced the results.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by General Secretary Chandan Jyoti Bora. Associations members were presented the awards to the winners among Prominent members present on the occasion included Association President Kanak Hazarika, Executive President Hemen Kumar Das, Vice Presidents Palash Pratim Hazarika, Ajay Mahato, and Faizur Rahman, Treasurer Safiqur Rahman, senior journalist Baidhyanath Sahani, Assistant General Secretary Bhaskar Saikia, along with several journalists and distinguished guests.
The programme concluded with a solemn tribute to the late journalists and a renewed commitment to promoting young talent and meaningful journalistic values in society.
