News Desk: Along with the rest of the country, the 77th Republic Day was celebrated across different places of Assam (77th Republic Day Assam celebrations). In Guwahati, the central state-level Republic Day function was held at Khanapara, where Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the event and formally unfurled the National Flag (Assam Governor Republic Day).

In Dibrugarh, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the Republic Day celebrations and unfurled the National Flag (Himanta Biswa Sarma Republic Day). While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted several developmental initiatives undertaken by the state and central governments.

Similarly, Minister Pijush Hazarika unfurled the National Flag at the co-district headquarters in Jagiroad during the Republic Day celebrations.

In Nagaon, the district-level Republic Day programme was organised by the district administration at the historic Nurul Amin Stadium. Assam Cabinet Minister for Power, Sports and Youth Welfare, and Tribal Welfare, Nandita Garlosa, attended the event as the Chief Guest and ceremonially unfurled the National Flag in the presence of thousands of people (Nagaon Republic Day programme).

At the beginning of her address, Minister Garlosa paid rich tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives during India’s freedom struggle and respectfully remembered the patriotism of the freedom fighters. During her speech, she also briefly outlined various development schemes and initiatives undertaken by the central and state governments. Prior to this, she took the salute during the ceremonial march-past presented by contingents of the police, paramilitary forces, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts and Guides, and students from several schools.

Meanwhile, during the Republic Day programme at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon, District Commissioner Debashish Sharma performed a dance to the Indian Army’s special patriotic song Badloram Ka Badan (Badloram Ka Badan). The performance, carried out alongside NCC cadets, also saw the participation of Rupak Sharma, MLA of the Nagaon–Batadrava constituency.
