Nagaon: As part of preparations for the Assam Legislative Assembly elections, an important programme was held at the District Commissioner’s office on Wednesday. The first phase randomization process of EVM and VVPAT machines for the seven assembly constituencies under the district — 55-Dhing, 56-Rupahihat, 57-Kaliabor, 58-Samaguri, 59-Barhampur, 60-Nagaon-Batadrava and 61-Raha (Scheduled Caste) — was successfully completed (Nagaon EVM Randomization).

The special programme was organised in the presence of representatives of all political parties in the interest of maintaining transparency and impartiality in the election process, and was presided over by District Election Officer and District Commissioner Debashish Sharma.

The randomization process was completed through a computerised method in the direct presence of representatives of various recognised political parties of the district, so that the distribution process of the voting machines remains completely beyond suspicion.

Presiding over the event and addressing the representatives of political parties, Nagaon District Commissioner and District Election Officer Debashish Sharma said, “We have completed the first phase randomization process in your presence with the aim of making the EVMs completely free from doubt. Subsequently, we will arrange to keep the EVMs in the strong room. After that, a second randomization process will be carried out once again prior to the elections.”

Election Officer Shekharan Phukan, Additional Assistant Commissioner Tejas Agnihotri, and other officials and employees of the election office actively participated in the programme.
