Nagaon: At a time when the public is anxious over the shortage of cooking gas cylinders, Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Devashish Sharma has taken a strict stance against the use of domestic LPG cylinders in commercial establishments. On Friday, acting on the Deputy Commissioner’s directive, a team from the Nagaon district administration conducted a raid targeting the use of domestic LPG cylinders in business establishments (Domestic LPG Cylinder Misuse).

During the operation, the administrative team seized three domestic LPG cylinders from a restaurant named Alipukhuri Restaurant at Batadrava in the district. A case has also been registered against the owner and the manager of the restaurant.

It may be mentioned that on Thursday, Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Devashish Sharma issued an order banning the commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders across the district.

According to the directive, hotels, restaurants, dhabas and roadside food vendors are strictly prohibited from using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes. They have been instructed to use only commercial cylinders obtained from authorized distributors.

The order further stated that if anyone violates this rule, the cylinders will be seized and strict legal action will be taken against the offenders.

Gas distributors were also warned not to supply domestic cylinders to any commercial establishment and to immediately inform the authorities if they come across such violations.

The concerned departments have been directed to implement the order with immediate effect.
