Batadrava: Visitors to the Abirbhav Kshetra in Batadrava will now be required to wear traditional Assamese attire. Along with this new rule, the 16 previously enforced regulations will also continue to remain in effect. (Batadrava Dress Code)

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, while attending the Doul Utsav programme at Shri Shri Batadrava Thaan on Tuesday, had announced that entry into the Abirbhav Kshetra in Batadrava would be permitted only for those dressed in traditional Assamese attire. Just one day after that announcement, on Wednesday, the Nagaon District Administration formally issued an official directive in this regard.

As per the notice bearing number 155382/5110, signed by Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sharma, entry into the Abirbhav Kshetra at Batadrava will henceforth be permitted only for visitors wearing traditional Assamese attire, while all previously stated conditions will continue to remain in force. However, this rule will not apply to children below the age of 12.

It is worth noting that the Nagaon District Administration had earlier already enforced a set of rules for visitors to the Abirbhav Kshetra at Batadrava. Those rules are as follows:

  1. Visiting hours at the Abirbhav Kshetra, Bardowa, are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  2. Entry of all types of vehicles inside the Abirbhav Kshetra is strictly prohibited.
  3. Carrying any kind of food items inside the Abirbhav Kshetra is not permitted.
  4. Smoking, consumption of narcotics, betel nut, paan masala, gutkha, and similar substances are strictly prohibited inside the Abirbhav Kshetra.
  5. Visitors wearing traditional attire will be given priority entry. (Update: As per the new district administration order dated 04/03/2026, traditional Assamese attire is now mandatory for all visitors.)
  6. Visitors must keep their belongings under their own responsibility. The authority will not be held liable for any loss of visitors’ belongings.
  7. Visitors must maintain discipline and enter through the designated entrance in an orderly queue. Visitors are requested to extend full cooperation to security personnel.
  8. Littering is strictly prohibited. Designated dustbins must be used for disposing of waste. Appropriate action will be taken against those found littering carelessly.
  9. Damaging any property within the premises will be a punishable offence.
  10. Silence, decency, and discipline must be maintained at all times.
  11. Loud conversations, commotion, or indecent behaviour inside the Abirbhav premises are strictly prohibited.
  12. Spitting is strictly prohibited.
  13. Plucking flowers, plants, or any vegetation is strictly prohibited.
  14. Only the designated toilets available within the premises must be used.
  15. Objectionable remarks or behaviour against any religious belief are strictly prohibited.
  16. Mockery, ridicule, indecent language, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
  17. Any act or behaviour that disturbs the environment is strictly prohibited.

These rules had originally been put in place by the district administration after a YouTuber went viral for performing an obscene dance inside the Abirbhav Kshetra at Batadrava. Now, in addition to the existing 17 rules, the newly added requirement of wearing traditional Assamese attire will also remain in effect for all visitors.
