News Desk: On Tuesday morning, SpiceJet flight SG121, which took off from Delhi for Leh, encountered a serious technical snag. Within a few minutes of departure, the flight crew detected a malfunction in the aircraft’s No. 2 engine. As a result, a decision was taken to abort the journey midway and return to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi (SpiceJet Delhi-Leh Flight Technical Issue).

Emergency Landing and Passenger Safety

A “Full Emergency” was declared at Delhi airport at around 6:30 a.m. for the Boeing 737 aircraft carrying approximately 150 passengers. As per protocol, the aircraft landed safely at 6:45 a.m. All passengers were deplaned normally after landing. No injuries to any passengers or crew members have been reported in the incident.

Flights to Leh require high levels of technical precision due to the challenging geographical conditions of the high-altitude region. Therefore, any technical irregularity is treated with utmost seriousness.

SpiceJet’s Official Statement

In an official statement regarding the emergency situation, a SpiceJet spokesperson clarified that the aircraft was brought back in the interest of safety. The spokesperson stated:

“On February 24, a SpiceJet aircraft operating from Delhi to Leh returned to Delhi after encountering a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi and all passengers were disembarked normally. There was no fire warning in the cockpit.”

At present, a team of engineers is conducting a thorough inspection to determine the exact cause of the engine malfunction. The airline has also arranged alternative travel options for the affected passengers.
