Nagaon: A major road accident occurred today on the bypass at Moukhati area in Nagaon district (Road Accident in Nagaon). A passenger Traveller vehicle heading from Guwahati to Majuli suddenly lost control and overturned on the roadside. According to preliminary sources, at least 11 passengers were injured in the tragic accident.
How Did the Accident Occur?
According to eyewitnesses, the Traveller bearing registration number AS01SC 4640 was moving at a high speed. As it approached the Borghat bypass, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned by the roadside. Hearing the loud crash, local residents immediately rushed to the spot.
Rescue Operation and Treatment
Local people promptly initiated rescue efforts immediately after the accident. Later, a team from Borghat Police arrived at the scene and evacuated the injured passengers from the vehicle, sending them to Nagaon Medical College Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources stated that while a few of the injured are in critical condition, most are out of danger.
According to local sources, overspeeding is believed to be the primary cause of the accident. Traffic movement in the area was disrupted for some time following the incident, but the police soon brought the situation under control.
