Safiqur Rahman, Nagaon: Preparations are underway for the upcoming Doul Yatra Mahotsav at Batadrava Than in Nagaon, the birthplace of revered Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardev (Batadrava Than Doul Yatra 2026). The five-day religious festival will be held from March 2 to March 6, featuring a series of spiritual rituals, devotional programmes, and cultural events.

A joint review meeting was convened under the leadership of Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sharma, IAS, with participation from officials of various government departments and members of the Batadrava Than Management Committee. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth arrangements for the annual Doul Yatra celebration.

The Batadrava Than Doul Yatra, considered one of the largest spiritual gatherings in Assam, is expected to attract over one million devotees, pilgrims, and Vaishnavites from across the state and neighboring regions. To manage the anticipated crowd, several sub-committees have been formed to oversee security, infrastructure, sanitation, and public services.

Key departments including Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Police Administration, Health Services, Power, and Transport have prepared department-wise action plans. Authorities are prioritizing road connectivity, drinking water supply, medical camps, electricity, traffic regulation, and overall public safety during the Doul festival at Batadrava.

The meeting was attended by Batadrava Than Management Committee President and Narowa Satra Satradhikar Amlan Jyoti Dev Goswami, along with representatives from various Satras, district officials, police personnel, and transport authorities.

Speakers highlighted that Batadrava is regarded as the cradle of Assam’s Doul (Phalgun) festival tradition linked to Srimanta Sankardev. All departments pledged coordinated efforts to ensure the Batadrava Than Doul Yatra Mahotsav 2026 is conducted peacefully and in a devotional atmosphere.

District Commissioner Debashish Sharma appealed for collective cooperation from all stakeholders to make the festival a well-organized and memorable spiritual event.
