RAHA: A financial scandal at Barunguri village under Komargaon Panchayat in Raha constituency has exposed the true nature of the BJP-led state government’s “zero tolerance” policy towards corruption (Raha Fund Embezzlement).
While the government claims to have a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the alleged embezzlement of Rs 3,60,000 allocated for a public crematorium’s boundary wall construction work has raised serious questions about its sincerity.
The incident has highlighted the gap between the government’s claims and reality, sparking concerns about corruption and misuse of public funds among the local residents.
According to information received, a sum of Rs 3, 60,000 were allocated in 2022 under the 15th Finance Commission, to construct a boundary wall of a public cremation ground at Barunguri village in Raha. Interestingly, no construction work has been done on the site as of today. Instead, the individuals assigned to the project reportedly submitted fake photos of constructed walls and embezzled the funds sparking outrage among the locals.
The misappropriation has raised questions about the involvement of panchayat officials, including the president, secretary, and junior engineer, as well as Raha Development Block officials.
Meanwhile, residents of the village have demanded action against those responsible for the alleged embezzlement, seeking justice and transparency in the utilization of public funds.
