Nagaon Administration Orders Declared Foreigner to Leave Assam Within 24 Hours Woman Declared Foreigner Ordered to Leave Assam Within 24 Hours

Nagaon: According to a notification issued by the Nagaon District Commissioner’s Office, a woman named Sun Banu has been directed to leave Indian territory (Declared Foreigner Assam Order).

It is noteworthy that the woman was declared a foreigner by the Foreigners’ Tribunal as far back as 2009. An order has been issued for her expulsion from Indian territory under Section 2 of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950.

As per the order, she has been instructed to leave Assam and Indian territory within 24 hours of receiving the notice, via the Dhubri/Sribhumi/South Salmara–Mankachar route.

It has further been stated that failure to comply with the order will invite appropriate legal action under prevailing laws. As an administrative measure, the declared foreigner’s biometrics will be collected and uploaded to the Foreigners Identification Portal (FIP), and her name will be cancelled/frozen from the voter list, ration card, and Aadhaar card.

The name of the woman declared a foreigner will also be removed from all government social security schemes.

It may be recalled that in December last year as well, 15 declared foreigners from various parts of Nagaon were ordered to leave Assam.
