Nagaon : The 48th three-day state conference of the All Assam Junior Agriculture Officers’ Association concluded successfully today at the Cultural Project Hall in Nagaon, marking an important milestone for the organisation. The concluding day featured an open session attended by senior officials, public representatives, journalists, and members of the association (Assam Junior Agriculture Officers Association Conference).
The open meeting was chaired by Association President Dibyajyoti Hazarika, while the objectives of the session were explained by General Secretary Gopal Hazarika. The welcome address was delivered by Buddha Kumar Nath, Working President of the Reception Committee.
During the session, the souvenir published on the occasion of the conference was formally released by Nagaon MLA Rupak Sharma. In his inaugural address, Sharma described literary practice as a form of revolution and stated that the souvenir would help nurture a culture of literary engagement among officers and staff of the Agriculture Department. He added that such publications help preserve the history of institutions and regions. The MLA also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Assam Government for the development of the agricultural sector.
Bhavani Kumar Nath, Joint Director of Agriculture, Central Assam Zone, attended the programme as a distinguished guest. He stated that the Assam Government and the Agriculture Department are currently giving special priority to agriculture and have launched several schemes to motivate farmers. He emphasised that fertile river valley regions have immense potential for food grain production, noting that a nation with strong food security becomes economically prosperous.
Another distinguished guest, Kanak Hazarika, President of the Nagaon Print Media Association and a senior journalist, expressed concern over the gradual decline in the number of people engaged in agriculture in Assam. He pointed out that many agricultural fields remain uncultivated, which is a serious issue. Stressing that a strong agricultural economy is the backbone of Assam’s overall economic development, he also spoke about the shrinking of agricultural land and urged agriculture officers and staff to actively encourage farmers to continue farming.
On the occasion, Gopal Hazarika, Buddha Kumar Nath, Shahanur Alam Laskar, and Ramen Nath were felicitated for their contributions.
Meanwhile, during the delegate session held on Thursday night, Dibyajyoti Hazarika was re-elected as President of the Association, while Nagar Doley was elected as the new General Secretary.
