Nagaon : Christ Jyoti School, one of Assam’s premier educational institutions, launched its much-anticipated annual sports extravaganza Sportiva 2025–26 today with a spectacular opening ceremony at its campus in Prem Nagar, Dhing Road, Nagaon. The event was inaugurated by Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma, who hoisted the school’s sports flag and lit the ceremonial torch, marking the beginning of a vibrant three-day celebration of athleticism, discipline, and unity (Sportiva 2025-26 Inauguration).
Addressing a sea of enthusiastic students, teachers, parents, and guests, DC Sharma delivered a stirring message on the values that define true success. “Honesty, dedication, and focus will lead you to your life’s goals. Our duty must be rooted in service to humanity. Let our ideals be guided by compassion and patriotism,” he said. Cautioning against the obsession with academic scores alone, he added, “Scoring 98% is not the end. There are many who have stumbled chasing that number. Whatever you do, do it with confidence—and you will succeed.”
The school grounds came alive with color and energy from the early morning hours, as students, faculty, and families gathered to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship. In a heartwarming moment, the District Commissioner joined students in dancing and celebrating, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
Principal Father Star Light, in his welcome address, emphasized the deeper purpose of the event. “Sportiva is not just about competition. It’s about nurturing sportsmanship, encouraging young athletes, and building a healthy sporting culture. That is why we organize this event every year,” he said.
The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Father James Thapa, head of the All India Celebratian Community, and Mriganka S.B. Hazarika, State Sports Secretary of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), among others. The event featured a symbolic changing of the old flag with a new one, torch relays, a grand march-past, cultural performances, and the ceremonial entry of athletes from various houses—each moment adding to the festive spirit.
With its blend of discipline, celebration, and inspiration, Sportiva 2025–26 promises to be a memorable chapter in the school’s legacy of holistic education.
