SEBA Code Cancellation Sparks Fresh Education Row in NagaonMassive Irregularities Alleged at Nagaon Inspector of Schools Office; Dispute Over SEBA Code Cancellation Deepens.

Nagaon: The alleged incompetence of the Inspector of Schools, Nagaon Circle, and certain officials of the district’s Education Department has reportedly led to disorder in Nagaon’s education sector (SEBA Code Cancellation). Two days ago, the Inspector of Schools stated that several private educational institutions had forged the signatures of senior education officials and fabricated official documents in an attempt to obtain DISE and SEBA codes. The education official also said that the permissions of eight schools had been cancelled over the matter.

In addition, the official stated that the documents of several other schools were found to be suspicious and are currently under investigation. Following this announcement, some of the institutions whose permissions were cancelled have strongly protested. The issue has also led to a dispute between a government school and a private school in Nagaon. The two institutions involved are Koroini Higher Secondary School and Bishnu Rabha Senior Secondary School.

According to available information, Koroini Higher Secondary School was established in 1953 and upgraded to the higher secondary level in 1984. A certain clique has allegedly been spreading false allegations against the school. Speaking to the media, the principal of Koroini Higher Secondary School said that the government-appointed teachers have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of education. As a result, the school’s academic performance has significantly improved, with a 96.6% pass rate in the Higher Secondary Final Examination and a 92% pass rate in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination. The principal further alleged that, after losing its SEBA code, the private school has become mentally demoralized and is now spreading false propaganda against Koroini Higher Secondary School.

Meanwhile, a section of parents of Bishnu Rabha Senior Secondary School staged a protest today at the Office of the Inspector of Schools, Nagaon Circle. They stated that they would not allow the students to study or appear for examinations at Koroini Higher Secondary School, even if it meant the students losing an academic year. The protesting parents alleged that the educational standards of Koroini Higher Secondary School are not satisfactory.

The parents further alleged that the SEBA code of Bishnu Rabha Senior Secondary School was cancelled due to a conspiracy by the authorities of Koroini Higher Secondary School. They claimed that the students are distressed over fears that their school may be shut down. The parents also argued that if there are allegations of forged documents, then officials and employees of the Nagaon Education Department must certainly be involved. They stated that if documents sent through official postal channels have been declared fake, then it is certain that officials and staff of the Inspector of Schools’ office themselves have committed the forgery.

It is noteworthy that while the state government has been conducting Gunotsav to improve the quality of education, the incompetence of certain idle officials and employees within the Education Department has continued to make the situation increasingly deplorable. The Office of the Inspector of Schools, Nagaon Circle, stands as a clear example of this. Concerned parents have appealed to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene directly in the matter.
