Nagaon: The District Commissioner of Nagaon, Devashish Sharma, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the HSLC (Matric) examination results of 39 schools in the district. Three schools recorded zero pass percentage, while 36 others showed poor performance. He summoned the headmasters and issued strict warnings (Nagaon HSLC Result 2026).
“Despite receiving significantly higher salaries than teachers in private institutions, headmasters of schools that fail to improve students’ results must take responsibility. Headmasters must take ownership of shaping students’ futures. Those responsible for poor results will be transferred,” said District Commissioner Devashish Sharma while warning the headmasters of the 39 poorly performing schools. He particularly summoned the headmasters of schools that recorded zero results and pass percentages below 30 percent, urging them to take necessary steps to improve performance in the future.
Zero Pass Percentage
In the recently declared HSLC examination results, three schools in Nagaon recorded a zero pass percentage despite having more than ten teachers each. The schools are Pub Nonoi Madhav Kandali High School, Amoni Tini Ali Madhavdev High School, and Singri High School.
At Pub Nonoi Madhav Kandali High School, five students appeared in the HSLC examination, but none passed. Similarly, at Amoni Tini Ali Madhavdev High School, none of the 15 appearing students passed. At Singri High School as well, not a single student passed out of the 24 who appeared in the examination.
Less Than 10 Percent Pass Rate
Four schools in Nagaon recorded pass percentages below 10 percent in the HSLC examination. These schools are Kaledin Tea Estate Muktijoddha Nabin Chandra Bhumij Adarsha Vidyalaya, Sutargaon Public High School, Chandramohan Gunju Adarsha Vidyalaya, and Bheloguri Anchalik Higher Secondary School. In addition, 32 other schools recorded pass percentages below 30 percent. This means the overall breakdown of the 39 poorly performing schools stands as follows: 3 schools with zero pass percentage, 4 schools with below 10 percent, and 32 schools with below 30 percent — together accounting for all 39 schools flagged by the District Commissioner.
Taking a strong stance against the poor performance of these 39 high schools, District Commissioner Devashish Sharma summoned the headmasters and issued warnings. On Thursday, at the District Library Auditorium in Nagaon, in the presence of the Inspector of Schools and the Additional Commissioner of the Education Department, he directed the headmasters to explain the reasons behind the poor results. He also instructed the Inspector of Schools to take steps for the transfer of headmasters of poorly performing schools.
Addressing the meeting, the District Commissioner said, “Teachers of government schools receive significantly higher salaries than those in private institutions. Therefore, they must ensure proper development of students. As the District Commissioner of Nagaon, I feel ashamed of these HSLC results. If I cannot run the district properly, then I am not fit to remain District Commissioner—this applies to you as well. Headmasters must take responsibility for the poor performance of their schools. Everyone must perform their duties sincerely, keeping in mind the future of the students.”
Along with the three schools that recorded zero pass percentages and the other 36 schools with poor results, the headmasters were warned and urged to work with dedication to ensure better outcomes in the future. The District Commissioner also called upon headmasters and assistant teachers to work together to create a strong academic environment in every school and help build a better future for students through improved results.
