Safiqur Rahman: The spirit of devotion and festivity has come alive in Nagaon as the sacred occasion of Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated with grandeur at the Haibargaon Hanuman Mandir. Organized by the Shri Shri Hanuman Janmotsav Committee, the four-day celebration began today and will continue till April 5 (Nagaon Hanuman Jayanti 2026).
This year holds special significance as the festival marks its glorious 75th year, adding a historic charm to the celebrations. The inaugural ceremony was formally launched this evening by the committee president, Prahlad Rai Todi, in the presence of several dignitaries and organizing members.
Among those present were secretary Rajendra Mundra, vice-presidents Jagdish Lohia and Binod Khetawat, joint secretary Jagdish Dhot, and key members including Ratan Jajodia, Ajay Mittal, and Radheshyam Sharma, along with other committee officials.
The festival features a rich blend of religious rituals and cultural vibrancy, including continuous worship, Ramayana recitations, and a series of cultural programmes over the next few days. Devotees and visitors are expected to gather in large numbers to take part in the spiritual and festive atmosphere.
A major highlight of the celebrations will be a grand procession scheduled for tomorrow at 2 PM, which will pass through the main streets of Nagaon town, showcasing devotion and unity among the people.
It maybenoted that, as part of the pre-festival rituals, on March 31, sacred water was ceremonially collected from the Brahmaputra River at Silghat in 301 ceremonial pots. The holy water was then brought to Krishna Shram Shiv Mandir and later carried in a procession to the Hanuman Temple, marking an auspicious beginning to the celebrations.
The Hanuman Jayanti Mela in Nagaon once again reflects the town’s deep-rooted cultural heritage, drawing together faith, tradition, and community spirit in a vibrant celebration.
