Nagaon: In an unusual yet hands-on intervention, Nagaon District Commissioner and District Magistrate Devashish Sharma was seen personally riding a motorcycle through busy stretches of Nagaon town on Monday to help manage severe traffic congestion that developed on the final day for filing nomination papers for the Assembly elections (Nagaon Traffic Control).

With large crowds gathering across key entry routes into the town, traffic pressure intensified significantly. The situation was particularly noticeable along the Kaliabor–Nagaon town connecting road and the route leading from Naltali to Nagaon town via Rupahihat, where movement slowed considerably.

To assess the situation on the ground and ensure that candidates could reach the District Commissioner’s office in time to submit their nomination papers before the 3:00 pm deadline, Sharma personally travelled through the affected areas on a motorcycle. During the visit, he reviewed the traffic conditions directly and took necessary steps to stabilize the situation.

He also issued instructions to police and administrative personnel on duty to facilitate smoother movement and maintain order amid the heavy rush.

Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das and Assistant District Commissioner Tejas Agnihotri accompanied the District Commissioner during the inspection.
